If you have not yet meet Coco and Candi, they are our new ponies that will be joining Bubbles and friends when Sherri does her Pony Parties. They will be available for painting (yes, you can actually take paint and paint right on the ponies), pony rides, birthday parties, etc at Hoofbeats.

Sherri will be taking both individual children and small groups (6 max). It is a great way to have kids interact with ponies (and horses). The emphasis is on safety and fun.

Bostons Ivy League (we named her Hope) was a rescue horse purchased by Hoofbeats 2 years ago. She had been seized , along with 25 others, for extrememe neglect and abuse, then auctioned off a month later by the county. Despite 3 years of bad treatment, she was a perfect angel from the moment she arrived at Hoofbeats. In only a few months, with some extra food and special foot care, she was feeling good again. She was sold to a family with children in lessons and the knowledge to care for her.

This year, two of our boarders, James and Bill, purchased a malnurished and growth stunted gelding. In 6 months his spine went from sticking out thru his hide to covered by muscle and fat. These same two boarders just recently rescued another horse, an injured off the track TB.

I am looking for some supporters so that we can keep one rescue horse at Hoofbeats at all times. I will match (in feed/ hay/ labor/cash), whatever is donated  :)  Cheryl

We often get calls about how our Horse Consignment Program works. It is a great way to buy or sell a nice riding horse. The horse owner calls or emails Hoofbeats with details of their horse, (many times they come thru vet or farrier referrals, or from referrals from previous customers). If Hoofbeats is initially interested in the horse, the owner follows with videos of the horse, then brings the horse to Hoofbeats for an evaluation. Once selected to be in the consignment program, the horse is ridden at Hoofbeats during a 1 to 2 evaluation period to further assess for overall soundness, temperment, riding ability, and behavior issues. We accept registered and grade horses, all ages, mares and geldings; the emphasis is a quality, safe riding horse.

The horse is then advertised across multiple sites at Hoofbeats expense and can be shown by Hoofbeats staff 7 days a week for buyers convenience. Additionally, Hoofbeats can provide training, touch-ups, etc to assist the new buyer. As a buyer, you have a horse that has been evaluated; and you are never going to an individual's house to try a horse that has been drugged or ridden for 2 hours before you get there. The buyer pays nothing for any of this "pre-screening", the owner pays only 10% of sale price, but never has to meet buyers, show the horse, be involved in any negotiations, arrange vet checks, delivery, etc.

It is a great way to find yourself a new horse or find a great home for the one you have!!!!

Due to demand, we are again adding on stalls to meet the needs of our equine community. At the same time, we will also be adding 2-3 new pastures in order to maintain the low horse per acre ratio you expect from Hoofbeats. If you are looking to move as a group, now is the time!

Are you sure your saddle fits correctly? Do you want to learn some stretches you can do with your horse to prevent injury? Dr. Beth Evans will be at Hoofbeats on April 14th from 8 to 10 am to put on a Spinal and Joint Health Clinic. Space is limited!

SmileWe had all 3 of our horses (Cookie, Rojo and Halle) examined and, despite the fact they were riding fine, they all had areas of back pain which required adjustments. Treat your horse to the gift of a pain free back.
